Shower Rod
Take a Look around our websites for information on remodeling your bathroom.....As I am sure that everyone knows what a shower rod is and what they are used for. But what many people do not know is just how many different styles, shapes and colors of shower rods that are now readily available for hanging shower curtains on. Whilst many showers nowadays come with a glass enclosure, it is sometimes difficult to find one which is suitable for use in an older home that can be both functional and attractive to boot.
Therefore if you happen to have an old fashioned Clawfoot bath tub you may find that you need to use a shower ring instead of a shower rod. Such shower rings hang from the bathroom ceiling and all the shower curtain attached to hang around the complete edge of the bath. Shower rings come as either oval or circular rings and can fit any size bath tub.
However, if your tub or shower is built in then you will need to purchase one or more rods to complete the enclosure and these come in wide variety of shapes (curved, straight, L or U shaped). You may even find one at a neo angle style which is suitable for modern walk in showers if required.
With the exception of a straight shower rod you will also need to install a bracket or two at different locations around the shower area to support the rod. You will often find that most manufacturers will supply matching brackets with their rods (these are often sold separately as accessories to the rods). Often you will find that straight shower rods are often a simple spring loaded rod that will fit into even the most narrowest of spaces.
However, it should be remembered that shower rods have not been designed to be grabbed or used as a supporting bar and are only designed to supporting the weight of a damp cloth curtain and little else.
Today it is possible to obtain matching accessories to go with your shower rod such as soap dishes, cups and toothbrush holders and toilet paper dispensers etc. These can all be color co-ordinates to match the shower rod of your choice. For the best selection possible it is best if you visit several bathroom stores as each one may be limited to a particular manufacturer. However, by visiting your local DIY store the choice may be a little more varied as they are often not required to store the products for one particular manufacturer.
