Cheap Bathroom Accessories

Take a Look around our websites for information on remodeling your bathroom.....

Whether you remodel your bathroom or just want to spice it up a little; accessories are a great way to go. When I mention accessories people suddenly think of expensive Egyptian cotton towels or hand carved wooden towel holders, the truth is that bathroom accessories can be cheap and can be selected to suit any bathroom style or size.

Choose a bathroom theme
We have all seen examples of crazy rooms (and even houses) that follow no basic theme at all. They often look like a jumbled mess with different styles as far as the eye can see. Ultimately it doesn’t look good and guests at the house will not be impressed. Your bathroom style can be unique to the house or you can choose to follow the look of the rest of the house, however it is important to stick to your theme.

A theme can relate to many different aspects of your bathroom. The time period you choose (such as modern, classic or retro) is actually part of the theme. The colors you use throughout the bathroom (on the walls, the accessories and even the appliances) are an important part of the theme. Then of course is what you place in the bathroom, a modern 4 person spa would of course not go well with retro, where a clawfoot tub would. If you have a green/blue aqua color used throughout the bathroom, a bright red towel set would often look out of place.

Choosing a theme can be difficult and make take some planning, but is well worth it in the end for a great looking bathroom that works! Now that you have a theme in mind for your bathroom it’s time to look for some cheap bathroom accessories :)

Recycled / Second Hand Accessories
Some people prefer to purchase new items and they really missing a goldmine of potential. A bathroom accessory is not a pair of underwear that have been worn by other people, they are things made for display and are never really ‘used’. Good places to look are second hand shops for items to put on display and building recyclers for things such as towel holders and mirrors. Generally with second hand you can bargain with the price (keep it reasonable) and even in some cases trade in your items for further discount.

Yard Sales / Flea Markets
Yard sales and flea markets are a great source for both second hand and new goods. Prices are often on the cheaper end and it is perfectly acceptable to bargain the price down. They both have a very wide variety of goods that will make sticking to any theme very simple, the hand crafted accessories often found at flea markets are also a great addition to any bathroom.

Sales At the Store
While shops that specialize in bathrooms and their accessories can sometimes be seen as high priced, they often have great sales with more reasonable pricing points. Shopping around the holidays is often a great way to get items on sale. However most of these stores will have an area with clearance stock; this stock is usually the last items they have, minor damages or simply damaged packaging. The prices will often be greatly reduced and there is always the opportunity to haggle to a lower price point.

No matter where you decide to shop for cheap bathroom accessorizes, remember to choose a theme and stick to it. The price is always up for negotiation and a sales person will often choose to make a price adjustment rather than loosing a customer.
